How tall red maple
Red maples are perhaps the most abundant tree in the eastern deciduous forest. A generalist species is one that can tolerate a wide range of habitat conditions and uses many different types of resources.
Red maples do well in sunny or shady spots, dry or wet soil, and high or low elevation. Adaptable roots help the red maple to cope with differing soil types. If the tree is placed in wet soil, it grows a short taproot and extensive lateral roots to soak up water at the surface. When red maples grow in dry sites, a long taproot and short lateral roots develop. Despite their remarkable roots, red maples grow better in some conditions than others. Deep, moist, acidic soil results in the healthiest red maples.
Small red flowers appear on red maples early in spring from March to April, and the fruit develops from April to June. Red maple fruits, called samaras, look much different from the typical fruits that people eat.
Samaras have an enclosed seed at one end and a thin, dry, winglike projection at the other. Seeds are often gobbled up by small mammals like squirrels and chipmunks.
The average lifespan is only 80 to years. Autumn Blaze Maples reach a mature height of about 40 to 50 feet after approximately 15 to 20 years. Allow lots of room for your Autumn Blaze Maple to grow.
Place the Autumn Blaze Maple inside, holding it straight, and cover with soil. We do recommend planting during the fall, however. Plant yours at least one month before the ground freezes in your region. Rainwater should be enough but in times of drought, or heat, you may want to add a little extra watering to your usual routine.
Autumn Blaze Maples typically do best when nitrogen levels are high; therefore, look for fertilizer that has a high first number, such as or formula combinations. Follow label instructions and fertilize in the spring.

Good overall experience with this vendor. This and other trees came well packaged and in a timely delivery timeline. It is difficult to truly evaluate until how I see them leaf out in the spring. Ordering was easy. Delivery fast. Arrived in great shape. Planted 3 trees immediately and they look good 3 weeks later. Can't give 5 stars until I see how they do in the spring.
Love my new Autumn Blaze Maple! It was larger then I expected it to be. Which was a wonderful surprise and it was shipped quickly and packaged very carefully. Though these shade trees are relatively fast-growing, don't expect a sapling to reach towering heights in just a year or two.
However, you can expect it to add beauty to your yard even before it reaches maturity. When you buy a bare root red maple tree to plant in your yard, it'll usually look more like a skinny stick than a towering shade tree. While it'll take time for it to reach maturity, it won't stay a leafless stick forever!
